The
World of Generica is a "generic" High Fantasy setting designed by many Fantasy HERO GM's collaboratively. Designed from the ground up to provide a bare-bones flexible stage for High Fantasy tropes across a broad scope of setting types for the expression of highly reusable content without the overhead of a very detailed named setting.
Ideally, content provided within the context of the World of Generica should have only enough detail to convey a concept and no more, and should be as self-contained as possible allowing any GM to consume pieces that catch their eye without having to strip out a lot of setting context and assumptions first.
Yet, the information is sufficient to support detail-light seat-of-the-pants campaigns in the ersatz setting of the World of Generica, similar to the classic D&D "Known World", many Fantasy RPG computer games, and other lightweight settings.
Realms
The World of Generic is organized as a collection of "
Realms", regions or bodies of work with a theme or that hang together somehow (influenced from a common fictional source or mythology or culture), but filtered thru a High Fantasy lens.
A Realm can be a region or continent or sub continent or an island or a pocket dimension, or whatever makes sense. Each Realm should be self contained, but sufficiently vague as to allow for crossover from other Realms.
The underlying HERO System mechanics should be basically compatible between the Realms. For instance, it should be possible for a character from the Realm of Barbarica to travel to the Realm of Tolkienica or the Realm of Gygaxica.
The Realms currently under development follow:

Artifice LevelsConventions
To help administer the content and the wiki, the following conventions are recommended:
Naming
Naming conventions are an easy way to help keep things organized and tidy. Please adhere to the following:
Realms
Unless it is just painfully tongue twisted or stupid sounding, Realm names should follow the
Theme-ica naming convention. Choose a good concise word that sums up the relevant theme of the Realm and attach the "-ica" Suffix.
Files
If you are an Admin with permissions to create new files, in the "Create Page" field follow the convention of
GenericaSpecificPageNameWithNoSpaces
If creating a Realm specific page follow the convention of
GenericaRealm
RealmNameSpecificPageNameWithNoSpaces
Example:
Barbarica Adventures filename =
GenericaRealmBarbaricaAdventureThemesCAMEL CASE
To stress the point, file names should be camel case (CamelCase), with no spaces or underscores between words.
FILE EXTENSION
Do
not put a file extension on the file name; the system will add the correct extension when you save.
ADD CATEGORIES TO PAGE
You can always fix it later, but try to remember to add the correct Categories for a new Page up front to avoid a needless edit.
Categories
Don't go crazy with Categories or their usefulness as organization tools is lost and they become annoyances instead.
Categories down to the Realm level are appropriate, and categories for concerns that cross-cut Realms can be considered on a case by case basis.
