A rare race of humanoids called the Merren is native to the Tears of Vrylakos. Though uncommon even in their homeland, they are adventurous and sometimes pop up in other places in the 'Tween or beyond.
Apparantly native to the Tears of Vrylakos, Merren were long the slaves of Aelven masters, but attained their freedom long ago with the decay of the Xauphinelle Imperium. In the modern day Merren for the most part live alongside Humans of the Tears in a closely intertwined co-existence, though there are a few pre-dominantly Merren communities.
Looking much like Humans, with the same basic biology and having a similar lifespan, there are still a few cosmetic differences. First, Merren skin and hair tones run in shades of blue, from a dark navy to a light sky blue. Secondly, their eye color runs in shades of yellow to red with orange being the most common. Finally, Merren have three fingers and a thumb, and on their feet they have three toes on the front and a back-toe.
Merren and Human can copulate, but not reproduce together.
Merren are born with an innate gift to traverse the Between by will alone, levitating themselves and as much as they can carry. This ability allows them to travel between Shards without the need for a Sky-ship or other conveyance and is quite convenient. Merren that specialize in ship repair are also very valuable crewmen for Sky-ships as they can easily flit about the hull of a ship to conduct repairs between ports.
GM Permission is typically required to play a Merren. They are a relatively rare race even in their own homeland of the Tears.Race Package: (5e)
