EditChamber Geographick
"Never in all my years have I met such a disreputable and mongrel bunch of scoundrels, pirates and rogues - I have to say, I felt rather at home from the first day." – "Drake" Armin der Larios, notorious rake, rapscallion, reputed smuggler, and member in good standing of the Chamber Geographick. The Chamber Geographick was established to survey the Multiverse and unearth the secrets of civilisations both ancient and modern.
Unlike most of the other Chambers, one does not need to hold citizenship of Sanctuary to become a Fellow of the Chamber Geographick. In fact, due to the obvious dangers involved in the Chamber Geographick’s work, a large number of Associates and Fellows are drawn from criminal ranks. Depending upon the crime committed and the type of work , some prisoners may be offered a period of service to the Chamber Geographick as an alternative to the usual sentence. The more sensible members of the criminal underworld usually refuse, although there are many who accept either out of desperation or because they see the offer as an opportunity to escape justice. Those who take up such offers will usually find themselves sent on missions that are best described as ‘lethal’.
Despite some of the more dubious recruitment practices of the Chamber Geographick, its ranks are not full of ex-convicts. All manner of people are attracted to join, usually by the slightly-misguided promise of adventure and bounty that features heavily in the many Planar Romance novels. The reality is somewhat different, but great adventure can be had, and great wealth can be accrued (in comparison to what would have been achieved if one had ‘stayed at home’). And, if wealth is not forthcoming, one can always get by providing consultative services to budding Planar Romance authors or as a raconteur in one of Sanctuary’s many hostelries.
Fellows of the Chamber Geographick are a very diverse bunch, with many exotic and strange talents picked up from a life amongst the Planes, interacting with the myriad life forms and societies and so it is difficult to describe a typical member. Words that might be more commonly used to describe a Fellow of the Chamber Geographick are resourceful, inventive, wily and with a slight tendency towards overconfidence. Indeed, in reference to the dread necropolis-plane of Ugini, Emilio San’Terre once famously said: “Give me a stick, a stone, and I will break this city.”
There are rumours that the Chamber Geographick, acting on behalf of the
Chamber Prime, has been involved with such dubious activities as spying, sabotage, and insurrection whilst in foreign territory. Both chambers deny such accusations and no reliable sources have come forward.

- Lucky You!: The Chamber Geographick has offered you temporary employment with a view to full membership should you prove yourself. They refuse to tell you the full details until you have accepted but it doesn’t sound too bad: “Go to place A, pick up person B and escort them to Place C before returning to Sanctuary.” Sounds easy and, as a bonus, it will help you sidestep the murder charge that is currently hanging over your head…
