Tech Level

The Realm of Classica's default Tech Level is 0

Some regions, where noted, are tech level -1 or perhaps lower.

Character Points

DEFAULT STARTING POINTS: 75+50

It is assumed that new characters in this paradigm start with 75 Base Points and up to 50 points from Disadvantages. This value can be altered by the GM at will.

This paradigm is expected to explode on the higher end of the point scale. A GM can easily kick start the campaign to a higher level of play by granting large chunks of Experience to characters to represent their status as veteran adventurers when the campaign starts. Similarly the GM could downscale the characters to represent that they are somewhat green when the campaign starts

The following chart vaguely indicates relative status levels by adjusted character points. The status titles are not intended to have any literal meaning; they are just intended to give an idea of the status of a character with that many character points.

Relative Status Base Max Disadvantage Points Starting Experience Max Starting Total Points
Sheltered Neophyte 50 25 0 75
Neophyte 50 50 0 100
*Youngblood 75 50 0 125
Seasoned Youngblood 75 50 25 150
Veteran 75 50 50 175
Seasoned Veteran 75 50 75 200
Hero 75 50 125 250
Champion 75 75 150 300

Races

The core playable races of the Realm of Classica are listed below.

TBD

Ok, since we're going for a High fantasy interpretation of Classica, suggested races: Humans, Satyr (halfling varient might work for this), Centaurs. Dwarves and Elves? Could easily work in Nymphs and Maenads, etc, but those might be best left for Creatures. ghostwolf, 2009/06/11 06:59

I handle all sentient creatures with a Race package either way; no "creatures" and "non-creatures". Playability is just a matter of GM's intent.

I would say no on Dwarves Halflings and Elves in Classica personally unless someone had a clever idea for them. They just don't seem to fit to me.

Centaurs would work in a Greekish region of the Realm. I have a "Centyr" write up; its in the Centaur package as an option; it could serve as a starting point for a Satyr package.

Other possibles might include Minotaurs (might be too powerful) and Cyclopes (if built as a half-orc equivalent rather than giant).

Minotaurs and Cyclopi definitely work for me. Harpies too. Even Medusae, possibly. Even if they are "GM's permission", packages should probably still be provided. I'd say if it's in anything Homeric or even just Clash of the Titans or equivalent "source" material it gets an automatic greenlight from me unless its just too broken to work. Means to Power

There are many different ways for characters to gain power and be recognized in the Realm of Classica.
