Description
This
Paradigm represents material influenced by Greek and Roman mythology, the Odyssey, the Illiad, so-bad-they're almost good Sandal-epics ("THIS IS SPARTA!!!!"), and stuff like that.
Example Source Material
TBD
Ok, are we going Classica as in "based on Roman/Greek mythology", or Classica as in "based on Roman/Greek History, either actual or through the lens of artistic license (eg. 300)"?
ghostwolf, 2009/06/09 05:07I'm assuming the later, as Clash of the Titans and the Hercules movies and "sword & sandal" movies are almost certainly influences at the least even if something as extreme as the 300 isn't, but ghost is the coordinator of this one so its up to him.

if were going to do Barbarica and Celtica, any chance we can do an ancient rome style campaign area with it? either that or greece or sparta?
an image comes to mind of Thermopylae fought as a fantasy battle. low magic -shadowcat
I suppose calling it Spartica would be just way too cheesy.
I would call this realm Classica in more seriousness.
Pulling in BC Era Mediterranean. From Persian and Alexander to Pre-Christian Rome to Troy, Greece and even Egypt.
Low Magic, High Hero Content, Directly Ivolved Gods. Classica should have limited non-human races, but not remove them entirely. Maybe Classica mixes it up.
Elves (one type); Centaurs; Satyrs; and possibly toss in one other slightly more classic, maybe Dwarves (someone has to build all those mazes); and even Minotaurs as "PC Races" -ghost-angel
This realm really does scream for limitations on armor. Cuir-boile breastplates, maybe studded with bronze, seem to be the height of fashion. To offset and keep the characters alive, Combat Luck would need to be pretty much standard.
