Synopsis

This sparsely settled land primarily populated by tribes of camel-riding nomads is located in the unforgiving deserts ringing the black waste of Sharmut. The unrelenting desert is punctuated with periodic oasis which are highly valuable commodities; the trails between the oasis are also the defacto trade and migration routes of merchants and the local nomads. The harsh and unforgiving environment weeds out the weak, and the natives are a hardy breed who look as if they are carved from wood.

The typical Tulloc are generally simple folk eking out a hard existence in a difficult setting, but gangs of outlaw thieves and bandits plague the oasis and the trails between them, robbing from travelers as opportunity permits.

The locals wear a combination of light and dark colored kaftans, favoring earth tones, and the nomads of the deep desert are adept at blending in with their sandy homeland both for defensive and offensive purposes.

Travelers from beyond are found in Tulloco traveling to and from Khem as the most direct and water-wise route follows the oasis trails, skirting the black wastes. Less often travelers are actually adventurers from afar bent on plumbing the black wastes in search of ancient Shamutian treasure.

Magic

The Tulloc have a strong magical tradition of Ecclesiastics dedicated to Elemental Lords (particularly of Air, Fire, and Earth), called Djahno. Most Djahno evoke more than one Elemental Lord.

Details

  • Heraldry: A simple silver Crescent on a dun field is the most consistently recognizeable symbol of the Tulloco, though there is no official flag or blazon. The current Kulahem has a personal crest incorporating a back-to-back crescent on a blue and red field, which is flown from various parapets of the capital at Alubakar
