EditSynopsis
A pocket of humans living in the Troaxian mountains thrusting out of the jungle and running along the north eastern shore of the Troaxa river, these doughty upland people have mastered the craftsmanship of rock, and are adept miners and smiths.
Their rich mines produce gold and iron, as well as diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and coal. The master crafters of the Teetans create wonderful and beautiful things of gold, fantastic weapons and armor, and erect magnificent ziggurat-like stone buildings and monuments.
The Teetans long ago tapped into ancient Dwarven tunnels and abandoned halls, some of which they use for their own purposes. In doing so they encountered daemons infesting the dark tunnels. However the fierce Teetans adapted to this evil threat and eventually learned ways to fight the otherworldly terrors, though they are a dangerous and unpredictable foe.
Beset by aggressive Lazerti on one side, the vicious Cruaghar on the other, daemons from beneath, and the dangerous beasts of the jungles and mountains the Teetans have developed a highly regimented and disciplined society where everyone is responsible for contributing to the survival and protection of the people.
The valuable commodities of the Teetans is accessed by navigating the treacherous waters of the Troaxa river, and in large part it is this flow of riches that has made Coralus, positioned at the mouth of the Troaxa, so rich. For their part the Teetans need basic commodities such as surplus grain and cloth which are in short supply in their rocky homeland.
EditMagic Worshiping no gods, the Teetans have no divine magic, but they do have several family lines that have various mystic gifts.
By studying ancient Dwarven relics found in the dark tunnels, Teetan crafters eventually developed their own equivalent to Runecrafting, though the symbols they use are their own and bear no resemblance to Dwarven runes. They use the Glyphics variant of Runecrafting. One of the most common types of items the Teetan crafters make are weapons and armor with glyphs designed to work specifically against daemons.
EditDetails
- Heraldry: Argent, a Panther Rampant Sable, langed and orbed Gules, in base 3 5 pointed stars sable
- Forms of Dress: due to the extreme heat and humidity, Teetans dress very liberally, wearing as little as possible. Loincloths are very common among all levels of society, and both the men and women generally go topless unless engaged in a physical endeavor that encourages protective clothing. The availability of copious amounts of gold jewelry makes armbands, bracelets, torcs, and other body decorations very common. Thus it is impossible to discern the rank or wealth of most Teetans from their accountrements alone. Instead, the color of cloth that is used for clothing is caste-oriented; mere commoners wear brown, warriors wear maroon, merchants wear green, craftsfolk wear tan, nobility wear grey, and the royal family wears bleached white.
There are three major forks of the Troaxa in Teetan Territory, the Birazona to the far north of Zucat, the Zalivaera between Zucat and Lical, and the Goneldorza south of Lazu.
Defensible outposts are maintained along each fork to guard against possible incursions by Lazerti, Cruaghar, or any others intent on stealing the riches of Teetan, and also to facilitate trade.
EditAdventure Seeds
- Falls of Garosa: approximately two days march above Zucat there is a large waterfall feeding into the Troaxa River. Dwarven ruins stand upon the banks of the river about a mile above the falls. Legend has it that there is an ancient ruined fortress called Natan Hadarath hidden at the base of the falls themselves that guarded a gateway to the ancient Dwarven trade roads. Daemons sometimes proliferate from this area, and thus an armed outpost of warriors is kept garrisoned nearby.
