EditSynopsis
A vaguely defined coastal area laying just outside the swamp of Sahokee where the swamp gives way to rolling green hills and the lush verdancy of a rain forest, named for the largest settlement in the region Samadatha, this is a largely lawless area. Various tribes and settlements litter the area and rule themselves, generally via tribal councils, chieftans, circles of elders, and similar means.
The area includes settlements of Humans, Cruacha, and Lazerti interspersed among each other with no clear boundary lines. Nevertheless these simple peoples have somehow managed to find peace with their neighbors despite racial and cultural differences and harmoniously coexist.
However, more distant neighbors are not so pleasant and raids from the outside are common. The Samadathan natives solution is a loose alliance of mutual protection, where warriors from nearby villages band together to punish and deter outsiders in an effective confederacy.
In addition to the local settlements, the trading cartel of House Devrens out of Coralus are very fond of the region and have established very profitable trade relationships with the natives. They maintain an enterprising frontier outpost in the area, with a wooden stockade and permanent docks, and it serves as a useful provisioning point for commercial ships entering and leaving the area.
This is an ancient land; the rain forest hides numerous lost cities and ruins of ancient Sharmut and perhaps even older civilizations.
EditMagic This area lacks a strong, unified magical tradition. Some Occultists, Alchemists, and Ecclesiastics to Elemental powers and minor gods can be found here but they are uncommon to rare.
Practitioners of dark magics are commonly believed to reside in the deeps of the rain forest, but actual evidence is scant.
