EditSynopsisRanging the cold, hostile northern steppes of Stepizia are numerous nomadic hordes of Orcs. Descendants of the ancient Orcrish Empire, the Khor-da have fallen into primitive barbarity from the once lofty heights their forefathers achieved in their era of glory.
The Khor-da are supremely skilled mounted warriors and they fight almost exclusively mounted on Steppe-ponies, using primitive stone and bone tipped lances, and advanced horse-bows made of very strong and flexible horn. Every adult member, male and female, is considered a warrior.
The position of Khor-Khar of a horde is held by the strongest member of the horde, who faces constant challenges to his or her rulership.
A brutal, militant, survival of the fittest oriented people, the hordes spend more time fighting each other for turf, dominance, resources, and honor than anything else.
But every now and then a leader is borne among them and manages to weld enough hordes to their rule to pose a threat to their neighbors in Civizia to the west, Orizia to the east, Norizia to the northwest, or the Adahem to the south depending on their whim and preference. In such times the sheer numbers of the Orcs and their swift martial excellence makes them a real problem. However such a Great Horde never lasts much past the life of the Khor-Khar that commands it.
EditMagicThe Khor-da have an unusually high number of Kharza-Khar (Beastlords), Ecclesiasts of Karzag that focus their powers into controlling animals (usually steppe-wolves), and also a fair number of Skinshifers called Kharzaborga. By tradition Kharza-Khars and Kharzaborgs cannot hold positions of leadership, but conversely they have great social status and are exempt from many of the societal rules that bind most Khor-danians.
EditDetails- Heraldry: Individual warlords and tribal leaders often have crude standards by which they are recognized.
