EditSynopsisDeep under the rocky highlands of Albizia, the Dwarves of ancient Karadakana wrought many wonders. At it's height, the underground holdfasts of the Dwarves spanned the continent, and a Dwarven maiden could travel underground from one edge to the other without ever fearing for her virtue. Many of the technological marvels of Sharmut were created with assistance from Karadakan Artificers.
At roughly the same time that Sharmut suffered its fall, a portal into the heart of the daemon realms was opened by unknown means in the throne room of the dwarven emperor. Daemons flooded out, killing the High King, his guards, and everyone else in the area, rapidly spreading out into the city. Within a hundred years the glory of Karadakana was lost. However some holdfasts survived and though the great commonwealth is long dead, Dwarves still live on and remember their heritage.
EditMagicThere are many artifacts left exhibiting the very fine craftsmanship and powerful runecrafting of the ancient artificers.
EditDetailsAt the height of the Commonwealth's glory, there were over twenty major cities and numerous smaller settlements and outposts linked by well-maintained underground trade routes.
No one knows why the daemon horde has not left the ruins and tunnels. In recent years, small cults have started moving in, appeasing the daemons with service and sacrifices.
EditAdventure Seeds Free Stuff: How deep into the tunnels and ruined cities can you penetrate before the daemons notice you? The easily reachable areas have been stripped of valuables over the centuries, but great artifacts still remain.
An Open Door: Supposedly, the portal to the daemon realms is still open.
