Originating in Albizia approximately eighteen centuries ago among the
Cymthoniaid, and spreading outward from them to the
Linnorians and
Anornians. More recently, eight centuries ago, it spread beyond the Atladian successor states to convert most of
Falcoria. Actively expansionary, this pantheon's organized religions proactively work together to suppress Daemonology, Necromantism, and Thanomancy, and unofficially any vestige of older pantheons that doesn't cooperate with them.
There is quite a bit of cultural drift in the theonyms of this pantheon; however as Civizian is spoken by more merchants and travelers from other realms most people outside of Albizia and Norizia know of these gods by their Falcorian / Civizian names.
Theologians refer to this group of gods as the
Icus Pantheon, but colloquially they are known as the "New Gods", in reference to the much older
Ithus Pantheon.
Some of these deities are retained or re-envisioned members of the Ithus Pantheon whose worship has survived and been assimilated, though generally their names have been mutated through
Cymthon and other languages. Such deities are noted as being a "recast" of a particular deity of the
Ithus Pantheon. Other regional or localized deities are typically remnants of an older worship that was assimilated rather than displaced when a particular culture adopted the new pantheon.
